I can't complain about that at all, whatever light they are using, it looks fantastic. I actually prefer the old way and find that it looks funny as the very top of the headset will be sticking out like a sore thumb.
The only way to adjust this headset is with the ski band apparently, which to me is kinda dumb. The headset is not that great for people with smaller heads. The ski band strap is a neutral thing for me.
So the sound quality is decent, not phenomenal as some have claimed but you can adjust the EQ's to help find a better sound for you. Now I know certain songs and things will sound different based on the audio engineer who worked on the project, so the sound is subject to change based on that at times, especially for music. The 7.1 surround sound is not bad but it's not the greatest, sometimes it sounds very simulated and not authentic at all. I tried a game and it was actually hurting my ears a bit, especially in CS:GO. I listened to a few songs and they didn't sound too bad, they could have sounded better though. It does have some nice sounds for certain things, there is a decent amount of bass. As someone who mixes and masters music, this does lack in sound quality a bit. They're great but even more so when they cost less than $100.
I bought these on sale and would recommend doing the same. In fact I forgot I was wearing them after awhile. It all sounded great and the headphones remained comfortable and didn't cause any fatigue. I watched S2 Ep5 of The Mandalorian, Blade Runner 2049, Tron: Legacy and Aliens. I tend to use settings with scooped mids so I can't say much about that. Bass was thumpy and punchy without any farting out or digital distortion, treble was clean with no noticeable shrillness. NIN Downward Spiral was especially impressive. Spotify isn't the best quality playback but these headphones really sounded great no matter what I played. Night City in Cyberpunk sounded great with vehicles sounding growly, background NPC convos clear and music sounding great.įor musical selections I tried some Nine Inch Nails, Lady Gaga, Vangelis, Pink Floyd, Danzig, Depeche Mode, Black Sabbath and High On Fire.
Doom was bassy and loud but never muddy or distorted. I just got these and tested them with music, games and a couple of movies and TV shows.įor games I played Doom Eternal and Cyberpunk 2077. Once the settings have been tweaked these sound fantastic. It works, I've found it just takes some time to come to grips with. Getting the best quality sound out of these requires using Steelseries GG Engine software, which is. You're not going to hear sounds in front and behind (that's not possible) but the DTS encoding makes stereo separation really impressive. My third Steelseries headphones and the best I've tried yet.
